Postby michithesailor » Sun Apr 18, 2010 7:28 pm

Hi world,

I joined to the virtual Transat AG2R (http://www.virtualregatta.com/index_ag2r.php) and tried to use the VRTool, but unfortunatelly I can't receive my boat position and winddata for this game.

Can somebody help me...

Thank you in advance

Hi Mitch,
You'll have to study the firefox cache importation method described here (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=28) and often treated in this forum.
ImageVR ToutoulZ ! . . . . . . . . . . (Tools and stuff for VR races and VRTool)

Re: Transat AG2R - Online Playing / Server Info

Thanks for the info on Firefox Cache reading.

I "sailed" part of the VOR 2009 from VR Tool.
It was possible to control the game at Virtual Regatta from within VRTool
I don't think cache reading facilitates this.
Correct ?

I see a new option in VR Tool 1.90
Online playing and connecting to a server.
Probably the same as I meant above.

Where can I find the information to play TransAt AG2R La Mondiale?

Hi All!
Yes I meant the same as Ernesto - I use also the VR Tool also in the VORG sucessfully, but I can't use it currently for the TransAt AG2R La Mondiale...
And I think the Firefox-cache-import should not be the best solution - But it works ( as good workaround).

If somebody knows why we can't connect directly to the gameserver please let me know...

Thank you

On

I read:

Manyplayers (the organiser of the virtual race ES) shut down all on line nav. systems auto boat data mining as a European site hacking laws were violated.
AND it seems some one had a bot boat system that was beating/WINNING the Game BIG Time.

Could this be the case and the reason ?

A correction: It was never possible to control the boat from within VRTool...
VRTool is a calculation device. It can download data from game servers
(if allowed by game rules) but does not perform control actions.

Tech note: There is one field in http request called "User-Agent"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_agent
VRTool http client currently identifies as:
User-Agent: VRTool 1.7 (b1; Windows; U; Windows NT; Gecko/200809 Firefox/3.0.3)

Hello Omar,

As a (the!) developer I think you know what you're talking about.
Anyways it gave me the FEELING I controlled the game from VRTool. Or has left that memory ;-)

Is it an idea to add a section in the How To Section of the website on How to Connect to a certain race?
I started Sunday at noon to setup for the race and thought it would be plenty of time!
But ran into quite some difficulties since then!

Is it possible / allowed to have a direct connection?
What's the server ?
The cache reading method (well explained separately; worked automatically! ) as an aternative!

For wind downloads, there is vrtoutoulz
(see http://www.tecepe.com.br/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=79)

For boat data there is the Firefox cache method
- if this fails, there is the copy-paste method using httpFox (also for Firefox)
- if this fails, there is the manual lat/lon input method
