VRTool 1.5 is available for download.

The program was changed to be used without direct interaction with game databases. To use this, you have to Install a Firefox plugin called HttpFox. Activate HttpFox and use Firefox to login in to the game application. In httpFox pane, locate the line containing get_user.php. Select and copy the file content to the Windows clipboard. Go to vrtool, select the Boats tab and:

* Clear the boat name field, to avoid downloads if you accidentaly click [get].
* Uncheck the [ ]Autoupdate checkbox.
* Use the clipboard button to paste boat data.
* Click button [Add boat position to track]

Hello Omar and thanks for your work.

What about the wind, does MP allow the F2 method to get them or to comply with the new rules do we have to import the xml files ?

Can your soft also read the friends position in the file ?

Hum. Not sure about that... But winds are not in the private area.

"Not in the private area" means not associated to an user number ?

Yes. Not in the area requiring user authentication.

Needs clarification, but if download of winds is not allowed either,
one can use Bob Zhang's winds XML (extracted from Grib.US files).
Wind forecasts are NOAA's public domain data.

It's also easy to take them directly from your computer as they are imported each time you refresh the VR screen ;)

Hi omar

I'm surely not a geek and I unbderstand that this is not the area to get details on HTTPFOX. But I want to use it as suggested. I'm stuck with the HTTPFOX Pane. How can I open it ? I've tried finding explanations using google but I didn't find any.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers

Didier

Make sure you have the HttpFox pluggin installed. Run firefox.

To open httpFox pane, click the buton in the bottom/right corner
of firefox window (a small greenish icon with a yellow arrow).
Or you can use the Firefox menu option Tools>HttpFox
(if it's not there, it is not installed)

HttpFox panel will show. Click >Start to activate httpFox.
Then start the download you want to watch.

HttpFox is very powerfull. It allows you to inspect how applications work.
Http headers, cookies, session keys, query strings and content.
Whatever information is coming in and out of your computer.

Locate the download in the upper table. Then click the "Content" tab below.
Right-click the content text and click "Select all" followed by Ctrl-C
This will copy the XML to the clipboard.

Alt-Tab to VRTool. Go to the boat tab and click the clipboard button
This will paste the XML with boats and friends data.
Press [Add current position to boat track]

Omar,
