hi all from spain (Ibiza Island). I was user from vrtool since early versions. With 1.5 i can download winds but i must search the exactly point for get winds with f2 method. Il i like download winds from 10-50 area, i must ckick first over 48ºn 9ºW. After, i push f2 and the winds load method works. Otherwise, with the new version 3.15d of virtualregatta, is imposible to get the position. Hta instructions have a ckecksum and it changes every instruction. For get the position, I open httpfox and i get the position by hand. I must edit the .nav file and enter the position writing. Omar, thanks for your great software.

Friends are part of the get_user XML. Make sure you check the [x]Update friends too checkbox.
And remember to click [Add current pos to boat track] after you pasted get_user content.

The program was changed to be used without direct interaction with game databases. To use this, you have to Install a Firefox plugin called HttpFox. Activate HttpFox and use Firefox to login in to the game application. In httpFox pane, locate the line containing get_user.php. Select and copy the file content to the Windows clipboard. Go to vrtool, select the Boats tab and:

* Clear the boat name field, to avoid downloads if you accidentaly click [get].
* Uncheck the [ ]Autoupdate checkbox.
* Use the clipboard button to paste boat data.
* Click button [Add boat position to track]

For those of us long in the tooth ( Old ) that are not too technically inclined would it be possible to make a small program that would do that automatically ? I'm joining the Clipper race and I am a former user of VOR.
BTW I loved it's use in the VOR I hope to use it again.
Is a route file also available ?
Do I have to use Firefox I'm using Google chrome at the moment .

You mean loading the file from browser cache?

Exactly !
The problem is that if you have multiple races and multiple boats, the name of the file can change at each refresh (plugin-get_user-x, where -x goes from nothing to the number of flash applications running -1).
A solution could be to read the files and look for the id_user (one per login) and id_parcours_xml (one per race)

 great. noted.

Great, thanks. Waiting for this version.

this feature is already in place, including mixing different resolution grids..

Yes it is. But you can not load 6 files at the same time. You have to do it 6 times.

To get the boat data, you have to find the plugin-get_user.php file.
On my vista it is in :
C:\Documents and Settings\**MyUser**\AppData\Local\Temp\plugtmp-1
Open this file(with notepad or other text editor)
Copy the full content

Go to VR Tool, Boats tab, a small icon on the right, (under the large grey line and the update check box).
The help says "paste boat data XML"
Click on this "clipboard icon" then click "add position to boat track"
It will update your position and your friends too (if the "Update friends too" box is checked).

In the same directory, you can find the winds from VR and import them into VR Tool.

This new method is mandatory as MP doesn't want tools to get data directly from their servers.
