version 2.35 - NOAA changes

Postby omar » Tue Jan 27, 2015 2:17 pm

Version 2.35 release notes ( 25/jan/2015 )

- fixes issues with NOAA protocol changes in jan/2014.
New implementation allows the use of GFS data sets
in 3 position resolutions
- GFS 1.00 degree
- GFS 0.50 degree
- GFS 0.25 degree

I did not include other data sets (GDAS, GFS Ensemble, etc..)
Not sure what they are

Update recommended for all users,
download page

Too late for this leg I'm afraid. I was after the big 5...

Many, many thanks, Omar. Great to have the winds again! Any suggestions on where to find the polars to download for use in VRTool?

thanks Omar - just great to have the winds again. Could get them from VR-Datacenter, but that was not easy and with forecast of only 24h. No problem for the last leg, but the next will require far longer forecasts.

Running Win XP-SP2. The installer setupVRTool_235.exe doesn't start.
One more time, thank you Omar for all that you do for us.
Any suggestion?

I don't have a XP box to test that. Try to right-click the installer file in Windows Explorer
and select "execute as administrator". The installer requires admin rights and
sometimes Windows (or some anti virus) are not so happy with that.

Thank you Omar and welcome back.
Even if the solution wasn't the administrator rights, you showed me the way.
Right click on the exe and choose PROPERTIES.
At the bottom of the GENERAL page, the line PROTECTION showed a message:
The file comes from another computer. Due to protection reasons, it may be blocked.
So I clicked on REMOVE BLOCK and run the exe without problems.
Thank you again.

Hi Omar,

Thanks for everything.

I have downloaded new version 2.35. I have downloaded wind files successfully. My boat information shows up, however I get no wind arrows, or wind speed from VOR Leg 4. Wind shows as 0.0/180

Hello,

Prior to this version I was able to download VOR's winds by pressing F2 and by setting the IP address of vrtoutoulz in my hosts file. Now this doesn't work anymore :( Is there any workaround ?

Also, downloaded NOAA's winds don't match those that are current in virtual regatta. Am I missing something ? How do I tell "please use 6am previsons for current winds but give me the next updates" ?

Thanks,

P.

The F2 wind download was not changed. If the server is responding, it should work.

The use of the current wind and the latest forecast is automatic, if you
configure the wind shift time correctly.

check the wiki for more details.
