I posted a version with the preliminary 3d regatta view.
This is like a table with the vrtool chart image in it and 3d boats.
To open the 3d regatta view, use [3D] button in the toolbar or
menu option View > 3D Regatta

Want a trimaran instead? Go editing the model files (named BoatHullMast.ms3d,
CodeZero.ms3d, Genoa.ms3d, HeavySpinaker.ms3d, Jib.ms3d, LightSpinaker.ms3d and MainSail.ms3d).
The boat and sail models were created with Milkshape software (format ms3d),
commonly used in games. Milkshape can also import boat models in other formats (3ds, obj, dxf)
The models and textures are in the media\ directory.

The scene update is manual at this time (you have to press [refresh scene] button)
The current vrtool desktop is imported.
Mouse dragging moves the camera around the selected boat (window center).
Double click boat to point the camera to it.
The mouse wheel zooms in and out.
This thing uses hardware accelerated graphics (OpenGL).
Will not perform well in older machines.

files in http://www.tecepe.com.br/nav/vrtool/vrtool.zip
Preserve directory structure (vrtool\media\)

Hi Omar,

I've downloaded and briefly tested your beta-test version.

There is a strange mal-function.
When I click on the button 3D or on the menu 3D regatta, I first get the error message: "your hardware/driver doesn't support "GSLShader1"!"
But if I repeat the action, I then get a windows with a nice 3D view filled with sample boats.
So, the base functions of the 3D display seem to work (I played a bit with the parameters) but the first call raises an error .

Note - I am using Windows 7.

Regards,
Photophore

This means that your graphics board does not support some of the
OpenGL features used by the program. Probably the boats are not casting shadows.

I'll see what I can do to correct the problem.
Thanks for the feedback.

Hi Omar,
this new 3D feature works well on my computer, except that it seams to search for the media directory in the current working directory. I don't place my .nav files in the VRTool program directory (Vista doesn't like it), so, I had to duplicate the media directory where I store my .nav files.
Nice fun work ;)
See you,
Eric
