> The best Internet raster chart source I know is the NOAA Nos Mapfinder. From this site you can download free charts for most of the US coast, in GIF format. Documentation says charts are not for use in navigation because they have low resolution, but they look fine to me.

(Please note that any GIF chart you download must be imported with ChartMaker program (included) before it can be displayed in the Navigator. Raster chart support is only available in Navigator 4.0+).

> Another interesting site is NASA's MrSid Image Server . In this site you can find high resolution satellite images from anywhere in the world. Click your region. Check the "Select Earth..." checkbox and click on the image again. Right click the image to save it in JPG format. Then you can import it and use in the Navigator chart viewer.

This page contains vector charts (CHT files) for use with Navigator (registered edition). Most of the charts are work of users who have kindly agreed to share the files.

These vector charts were converted from the web application Digital Charts of the World (DCW) from Penn State University (www.maproom.psu.edu/dcw/).

Other countries or states can be downloaded from the DCW site and converted to the Navigator vector format using this converter program:

Instructions:

1. Using a web browser, navigate to www.maproom.psu.edu/dcw/
2. Click a region in the world map
3. Choose country or state and press [Continue]
4. Click [Download Points] button
5. Right click the Download data link and save the text file to a local directory
6. Run the converter application (from the same directory)
7. Specify the text file name (without extension) and press [Convert and save] button.
   This will save the CHT file (Navigator format) in the same directory.

If you made a vector chart and would like to share it, send me a message with the CHT file attached. For raster cahrts, send the image (GIF or JPG) and the CID file.
